When Covid-19 struck and the world shut down, it was a time of fear, uncertainty, and isolation. At first these emotions crushed my creativity. As a veteran artist this lack of creative spirit was devastating. Still working a full-time job in healthcare made the apprehension even stronger. I quickly became desperate for hope. From this, blossomed a simple glass flower which led to experimenting in very different ways to get a sense of movement and capture my representation of nature’s beauty.
My florals are made in various forms, on copper stems to be “planted” in the garden, as a sculpture on a base, or hung on a wall. Beautiful on their own or in a cluster creating a lovely wall installation. The possibilities of flower designs as well as presentation develop and grow with each new work I create.
I have added a selection of birds as ornaments and as small sculptures. Living near the coast on Long Island has inspired my newest shore birds collection.
