Artist Statement

Capturing movement in glass, as it appears in nature, has been a challenge, requiring seeing the molten glass in my mind’s eye.  Kiln fired glass involves planning and insight into how the glass moves and how to manipulate it to mimic organic form. The fascinating properties of glass are both fragile and harsh.  Glass takes on new life, shape and texture through kiln firing to create something fresh and distinctive.  Using heat, single use molds, fusible sheet glass and powdered frit (crushed glass) provide me with the tools to breathe life into the glass.
